The Champions League Is Leaving TNT Sports in 2027. Here Is What We Actually Know.
TNT Sports' UK rights to the UEFA Champions League end on 30 June 2027. That date is in our own broadcast rights data, checked by hand against the rights holder's listings. From the 2027/28 season, UK coverage is reported to move to Paramount+.
Those two sentences are not the same kind of statement, and most of what you will read about this treats them as though they were. The first is something we verified. The second is something we read. This article keeps them apart, because the whole point of a listing is knowing which one you are looking at.
What is confirmed
Our rights data holds one hard fact about this: the TNT Sports Champions League listing for the United Kingdom carries an end date of 30 June 2027.
That is not a prediction. It is the end of the current rights cycle, recorded against the listing itself. When that date passes, the row stops appearing anywhere on this site — not because someone remembers to remove it, but because every page reads a list that filters expired listings automatically.
You can see the same date, alongside every other expiry we have established, on the broadcast rights calendar.
What is reported, not confirmed
Multiple outlets have reported that Paramount+ won the UK Champions League rights from 2027/28, on a four-year deal running to 2031, with a bid reported as "well in excess" of the roughly £1bn TNT currently pays. The same reporting says Amazon Prime Video retains its smaller package of first-pick Tuesday night matches, and that Sky Sports has taken the Europa League and Conference League from the same season.
We have not published any of that as a listing, and we will not until it can be checked against the incoming broadcaster's own published schedule. There is a specific reason for that, and it is not caution for its own sake.
Why we will not list Paramount+ yet
In August 2026 this site named an Australian broadcaster as carrying the Premier League. That broadcaster had assigned its rights on 30 June and shut down entirely on 1 August. For the first three weeks of the season we were pointing people at a product they could not subscribe to.
Nothing in the system noticed, because nothing was looking. That incident is why the rights data now carries expiry dates at all, and why a build here fails if any listing goes more than 180 days without a person re-checking it.
A reported deal is not a listing. Announcements get amended, territories get carved up differently than first reported, and start dates move. The cost of being early is the same as the cost of being wrong: someone plans their season around a subscription that does not carry what they thought.
So the honest position for the next several months is this — TNT Sports carries the Champions League in the UK through the end of 2026/27, and we will name the 2027/28 holder once there is a schedule to check it against.
This is not only a British change
The 30 June 2027 date is not unique to TNT Sports. Two other listings in our data end on exactly the same day:
- Canal+ — Champions League, France
- DAZN — Champions League, Germany
Three markets, one date. That is not a coincidence: UEFA sells its rights in cycles, and the current one closes across much of Europe simultaneously. If you follow the competition from more than one country — or you moved between them — the answer to "where is it on" changes in all of those places at once.
Every date we have established is listed on the rights calendar, including an honest count of the listings where we have not established an end date. That second number matters as much as the first.
What this means if you subscribe
Nothing, until the end of the 2026/27 season. TNT Sports holds the rights until then, and a deal ending in 2027 has no effect on what you can watch this season.
The practical point is about timing. If you are weighing a long subscription commitment, the 2027 date is the one to keep in view — not because TNT will stop working, but because what it carries will change, and the replacement may not be a service you already have.
How to check this yourself
Do not take our word for it, and do not take a headline's either:
- Check the rights holder, not an aggregator. UEFA publishes its media rights announcements directly; broadcasters publish their own schedules.
- Check the date, not the deal. "From 2027" can mean the 2027/28 season starting in September, not January 2027.
- Check your own market. UK reporting says nothing about what changes in Ireland, Australia or Canada, and those cycles end on their own timetables.
Frequently asked
Does TNT Sports lose the Champions League immediately?
No. Its UK rights run to 30 June 2027, which is the end of the 2026/27 season. Everything through that season is unaffected.
Is Paramount+ confirmed as the new UK broadcaster?
It has been widely reported and not, at the time of writing, contradicted. We have not verified it against a published schedule, so it is not listed here as a broadcaster yet.
What happens to Amazon Prime Video's matches?
Reporting says Amazon retains a package of first-pick Tuesday fixtures. Our data carries a separate Amazon Prime Video Champions League listing for the UK with an end date of 30 June 2031, which is consistent with that — but the two are not the same claim, and the 2031 date is the one we checked.
Will the Europa League move too?
Reported as going to Sky Sports from 2027/28. We hold no verified Europa League listing, so we say nothing about it beyond that.
Every broadcast listing on Sightline is checked by hand against the rights holder. Listings whose rights cycle has ended are removed automatically. See the rights calendar for every expiry date we have established, and how many we have not.
